And He personally gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the training of the saints in the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into a mature man with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.
The purpose of the church in “training the saints” is to prepare, equip, and launch the congregation into the work of making disciples. The final command of Jesus is this: As you are going, make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
We yearn to be obedient to this command. But there is also another command... the command to love.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Love for one another is so vital!
Jesus said that the way that everyone in the world would know that we are disciples of Jesus was how we loved one another. It should be the most important evangelistic motivation: to love the people in our church in tangible ways. And as a Church,
in order to build up the body of Christ, we must continually remind and encourage each other to love one another.
Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:25, we have Lift Kidz (ages 3 to grade 6) and LIFT (everyone else).
LIFT kidz is our most focused Bible teaching time, where Children learn the stories that Jesus used to teach us how to live.
LIFT is an informal time of fellowship, hearing testimonies, drinking coffee, praying together, a teaching time... it is different every Sunday. It is where we focus on living out our faith, encouraging and building one another up
in the Lord. (LIFT stands for "Living in Fellowship Together")
